I'm trying to locate an electronic hobbyist in Hong Kong that can repair excellent and expensive older hi-fi equipment. Calling the manufacturer's rep is a non-starter (Sony, Marantz, Nakamichi, H.H. Scott, Revox, etc.) At least four times I've been told, "Model is too old, no parts, buy a new one!" When I lived in Japan, I found a guy that actually made parts if he couldn't find one. Are there people like that here in "Asia's World City"?

Yes there are guys like that in Sham Shui Po, but I doubt they speak any English.

On a good day you will see guys re-coiling speaker connes by hand.

There's a small place on Mercer St in Sheung Wan which looks promising for that sort of thing, lots of valve amps piled all over solder-stained benches.
Or maybe its Hillier St. Anyway it's on the left as you walk in an anti-harbourly direction away from Sheung Wan MTR, only a minute from Bonham Strand, you can't miss it.
