Any tax on trust money left in UK will? My father died recently in the UK and I shall receive the proceeds from a trust fund set up by his grandfather (more than 10k pounds). I wondered what the tax implications might be (at either end), esp. if, as intended, I cash the trust in (it's in shares) and transfer the sum to my HK bank account. Any advice/experience welcome.

(I am not a professional in this field, but my mother died in the UK not so long ago so I have some recent experience...) There's no tax implication in Hong Kong. In the UK, if the trust has been set up properly (and for long enough) then there's no implication there either. But if there is an inheritance tax liability then it is on your father's estate, and the money would not be released to you until the tax had been paid. Any tax liability depends also on the total size of your father's estate.

Thanks for that. In line with what I'm hearing elsewhere.
