Best Restaurants in Hong Kong

Hi All!

We've now been HK residents for 3 months now and although we've gone through a good amount of restaurants in "HK Tatler Best Restaurants", I feel that there are SO MANY more that we've overlooked or simply do not know.

There was a thread on GeoExpat for 'best restaurants' but it seems outdated (2005). I'm now ready to eat and away with these hotel restaurants!

Any suggestions for below?

- Best Sushi Restaurant
- Best Seafood Restaurant
- Best American Restaurant
- Best Thai Restaurant
- Best Cantonese Restaurant
- Best Soho Restaurant

Please feel free to add any other restaurants you feel are "best". Looking forward to the recommendations!

Caprice is one of my fav restaurants in the world and my husband and have been serious foodies on at least 3 continents. Not just the food but the ambience is refined decadence & the service is flawless. If you want to celebrate a special occassion, Caprice is perfect (just be ready to have a big bite taken out of your purse

I also really enjoyed Opia at the JIA Hotel, Gaia's good for Italian, Umami for sushi and there's always my fav little hole in the wall Thai place - Cafe Siam.

More imp. let me give you some don't recommends from my culinary expeditions - Petrus was all hype and no fulfillment and Spoon was disappointingly ordinary (apart from the view).

Bon Appetit!
