Smartone Vodaphone Home Phone

Hi anyone got feedback regarding the Smartone Vodaphone Home Phone? (It's advertised on this site). They seem to have a proprietary phone.

The one difference from PCCW residential line is that it does not support fax....but the service already comes with caller display, ip dialling, voicemail..

much appreciate any other comments and experiences .

SmarTone Home Phone

Lately my PCCW line has been really awful (unclear, disconnecting during calls..) and I have had the technician round 3 times in the last 2 months (today just made my 4th appointment ). They say it's the underground cable. So now, looking into the HomePhone Plus by SmarTone-Vodafone - has anyone had any experience with this ? Appreciate any/all feedback!!!

where do you live baglady? strange that you would have that problem.

i haven't switched to home phone yet. they seem to be a good alternative however unlike pccw, the line could not be used for fax.

also the smartone offer is 68 per month provided you are locked in for 2 years.

let me know how it goes with your smartphone

but that is when you have to buy the instrument yourself...

what about the other plans on offer?

a quick check on their site shows a $118 /month offer for 18months under their contract (more if you are porting in from another provider).

still seems cheaper considering i'm currently shelling out $170-180 for my PCCW line at home (but this includes voicemail and the benefit of a separate fax line)

my only concern is the reliability and the call quality of the service. can anyone comment if they've tried it out and can vouch for trouble free operation/service?

btw, what backbone does the service run on? physical fixed line infrastructure already in place? or VoIP? just curious.....
