Question kite shop in HK? /streetmarkets?

Hi to all!
I am planning to come over to HK next week and I wonder if somebody knows a shop in HK selling kites (especially the Chinese traditional , single line kites).

I am also looking for calligraphy-paper, who knows a place?

Finally, I also would like to have some tips for the best fleemarkets, streetmarkets to browse for Chinese stuff like calligraphies, coins, Chinese style clothes.

Any tip welcome! Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

The following page has good information about the street markets.

http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/..._hkmp_hkis.jsp

There are also a lot of street vendors in Central side streets and a fleamarket that opens up in Sheung Wan (searching for details on this).

For art supplies

Take a look at the Hong Kong Yellow pages on http://www.yp.com.hk they have about 150 suppliers listed.

For Kites ... ummm .. no clue. Will ask around.

Here's some more information about the new Sheung Wan Market.

Quote:
Experience the nights of Hong Kong's past as the new Sheung Wan Gala Point resurrects the popular Dai-tat-dei, the "poor man's nightclub" of the 1960s and 1970s. Back then, people would gather by the harbour in Sheung Wan to browse through a night market and to enjoy free local entertainment. Land redevelopment shut down the market, but with the opening of the Gala Point beside the Hong Kong - Macau Ferry Terminal in October 2002, the Dai-tat-dei has returned.

The night market features more than 200 booths selling a variety of knick-knacks and useful items, about 30 food stalls and street theatre entertainment during weekends.

Opening Hours:

6pm to 2am Monday to Friday;
11am to 2am Saturday, Sunday and public holidays

Transportation:
Sheung Wan MTR station Exit D, head right along Connaught Road West then walk behind the bus terminus.
