dogs in hospitals

is there a program here which trains family dogs for volunteer work as "dog therapists" in hospitals? you know, for stroke victims, kids, etc? would really appreciate any leads (no pun intended), think my pooch can do a lot of good.

there is a long wait list it seems. they only do the examination of the prospective candidates a few times a year so we are waiting for the next one. in the meantime i am training my dog because i REALLY want her to pass!!!!!think it's such a great program. once your dog is 2 he/she can do it too. guess you can start by training now instead of waitning 5 years like us

i have visited the web site, and if they are visiting so many places, why don't they take more volunteer? wish u good luck.
as for me, my puppy is merely 8 weeks now. he is quite calm, and i'll be training him the basic obedient command.
