I have seen worse for LA on tv back home. This is not surprising at all given the sub-prime issues and the loss of manufacturing jobs. With the US government spending $12 billion monthly on the Bush-Cheney War in Iraq it shows where their priorities lie.

There was a tv expose of hospitals in LA dropping sick poor folks off at homeless shelters some in the hospital clothing and still with their wrist bands on. The hospitals defended the actions.

Makes me want to reply the classic Monty Python sketch " Yorkshire working class millionaires ".

Living in a tent - Luxury - we lived in a hole in the road.
Hole in the road - we used to dream of living in a hole - etc etc etc

The couple in the camper van can now consider themselves Upper Class in that neighbourhood !
