AFL Coverage in HK??? Where???

Hi everyone,

Probably not the right forum but it doesn't really fit into "sports" and it's not all about "nightlife" either so I guess it ends up here!!!

Just trying to track down the best place to watch AFL??? I don't have cable or any TV apart from the local stuff so I'm stuck with heading out somewhere to watch the game.

Does anyone know of a venue that does cover the AFL (i.e. has a bias towards it over Premier league, NRL and rugby)??? I know of a few "aussie pubs" but sometimes the AFL seems to get bumped in order to accomodate Rugby.

And except for the Australia Network, is there any other cable TV provider that does coverage of AFL?? Prefer live but at this point, anything will do!

Much appreciated.
Tragically AFL.
Craig.

Don't know of any pubs/bars that do this.

Otherwise you can sign up for the international subscription on afl.com.au

It costs AUD$59.95 per year, and apparently you get a delayed video of the games.

Craig,
I'm also looking for a venue for viewing.
If you find somewhere be sure to let me know, vice versa.

What Aussie pubs do you know of?

I'm hoping that Bulldog's will have the delayed telecast via the Australia Network tonight. 1am local time. I know they do all the union games and NRL games there. They have multiple systems, so if I can get them to turn over one of them, happy days.....

RE: AFL Coverage in HK??? Where???

Hi Craig,

I found that the Kangaroo Bar in TST shows most of the AFL games available for the week through Australia Network. Only problem is the telecast is close to live, so many of the games are shown at about lunchtime. That's actually not too bad, because the bar's quiet and there's no chance of the game getting flicked for cricket or rugby or Premier League. The only time this might happen is when it's a night match (I guess management just plays whatever most punters want to see).

You might also try Dicken's Bar below the Excelsior Hotel in CWB. It's an English style pub with loads of screens and they also show most matches.

I just happened to pop into a bar called The Canny Man in Wanchai last night after reading your thread. They had a big screen and a schedule up for all the AFL and Super 14 games that they are showing (looked fairly comprehensive). Their website is The Canny Man - An Oasis In Wanchai.
You will probably see my husband there now...he was pretty excited about it!
