Here's a dumb question...can you get regular roaming service if you're on a 3G plan. Since switching from 2G to 3G, I haven't been able to find any network when traveling to Mainland China, Thailand, Macau.

I do not have personal experience with that issue, but I have friends who own and use different phones depending on where they are calling from - one phone for use in Macau, one for use in Zhuhei, etc.

I always assumed that it had to do with network problems and costs.

make sure your phone is setup to use Dual mode (should be under Network settings) to allow it to switch from 3G to 2G when 3G signals are not available.
