| | The $200-$280 per mth price for California Fitness mentioned here sounds really CHEAP, a good deal. And most say that usage is "unlimited", and for ALL branches?
Used to pay $480 at Central's Planet Yoga and was limited to ONLY 5 sessions a mth - not enough, with extra classes at $150 each! Well, they did throw in the first mth free to entice me & my friend to sign a 12 mth contract. Stayed with them 18 mths. Experience was OK - exercised, OMMM-ed, showered, then popped over LKF/SOHO for fav tipple. (Though jeez... was the studio CROWDED with hot & sweaties at peak hrs... Mats were placed so close to one another, drips were flying with the more strenuous, swifter moves!)
Now, there's been a long gap, as am no longer on the island as often, am FAR from limber and starting to 'creak' in places, so thinking of another gym (not necessarily for yoga)...
So, anyone tried California Fitness in Mongkok? Or, say LivingYoga nearby Mongkok East MTR/KCR?
Hm, up-to-date "reviews" on gyms and fitness facilities in HK might prove useful here on GeoX.

| | | PLANET YOGA// only limited to 5 times...such a rip off..
I have a membership of planet yoga, it is unlimited, I can use 3 clubs. 4000 a year.
I think planet's yoga instructors are very good but after they changed BIKRAM into PLANET overnight last year, I don't really trust their management.
For popular classes, you have to phone in advance to get a seat, and no-show will cost you 150HKD.
They also have indian dance classes. No hotyoga in CTL. some classes are conducted in Cantonese.
CALIFORNIA is not for people who wants to relax. they play music very loud and the staff always announce something, even if you have ipod it is still annoying. there is no sauna in CTL.
Quarry bay is good, new, spacious, and not crowded. Monkok.. really crowded in the evening.
This is just my opinion but Gym membership can be used all clubs anyway... if you sign in local place, it might be cheaper??
For example be a member in Tsuenwan and use it in CTL.

Monkok.. really crowded in the evening... | Yeah, perhaps we could have got a cheaper yoga deal, especially as 2 of us signed at the same time, but the Planet Yoga sales recruiter was adamant that that was the 'best' they could do. After my 18th mth with them, they still wouldn't lower the monthly fee.
Oh, BTW, the 'limit to 5 sessions a mth' is a mistake, it was actually 5 'whole day' usage allowed each mth. BUT as I could fit in one (rarely 2) after work hrs on same day, still seemed like 5 classes at the most.
Well, their 4 studios were always packed from 5.30-10pm, so no shortage of 'takers', I guess. Having mats placed SO close together when the place got real BUSY, didn't really help one OMMM... 'relax', nor flow with zen... The $150 no-show penalty fee was necessary as many too often (unthinkingly?) pre-book but don't turn up, wasting a place. Fragrant, pleasant Changing Room, but when FULL, unsurprisingly, quite a long queue for showers. And maybe, they could've given the communal mats, invisibly specked with left-over DNA, a proper, consistent wipe after each session? Still, minor gripes aside, the place wasn't too bad. And knowing drinks AFTER was just round the corner, put a lot more vim/vigour & 'spring' to me step...
So, Tora, you managed to get the PY membership price WAY down? By paying upfront $4K? And, at the same time, you're also with another gym (California F)? How? Please share ya secrets? Maybe considering options... to revive ole bones again.

| | | Planet Yoga... I am not sure mine is discounted or not.
I complained when they turned BIKRAM into PLANET without any notice to us. Because I was really into it
They gave some discount or better condition (mine was TST to all club use) to those who complained at that time..
I hope Planet yoga has bigger shower room and sauna. (and space for my shampoo...)

| | i went to living yoga in kwai fong yesterday and asked for their prices.
they offered me 499HKD/month for 1year contract plus 288HKD joining fee. thats 6,276HKD/year.
i think thats way too expensive, what do you guys think? they even have restrictions of only 1 class per day.
i want to go during non-peak hours and the place is almost empty during that time.

| | | MovingIn07, I also have unlimited hours/clubs/countries for HKD180.
Try and speak to them to get a better deal, or renew the contract. (you may have to pay upfront though, for 2-3 years) | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 02:49 AM.
