Making a living in real estate in Hong Kong

Hi all,

Just wanting to know if anyone is in real estate in hong kong and what are the ins and outs of getting a job in it.

I've been in real estate in Australia for a little over 3 years, have done everything from sales to management. I am currently working for a company that works with developers (i have been involved with 50+ developers, many big name ones and sold on 50+ developments).

What chance would i have at getting a job in HK?

Cheers,
Eli

Real estate license - easy. Its just a piece of paper to be honest...

Depends on who you're working for.

The local real estate sales is tough without the language skills at the lower end and without the corporate and seriously deep pocket connections at the higher end (for both .. inventory and consumers)

There are a fair number of expats in the market with the multinational agences, in management, in sales, doing offshore sales work (condo in Phuket... apartment in London...). Not sure how they'd new someone with three years experience, but take a look at the papers and see who is hawking offshore property in the SCMP.

There are a couple of companies that go after the corporate relo / expat market. Sallmans, Knight Frank and a few others come to mind.
