To avoid cockroaches

Hi there,
I would like to find a place near Central / admiralty. Are there newer estates around there which is not too expensive? I looked at Wanchai, near Pacific Place, but I heard that there are cockroaches... Somewhere away from pubs? Will that solve the problem?
Thanks,
Marsha

Anywhere in Hong Kong will see a few cockroaches. Generally in my experience the higher you are the fewer, but even on the 38th floor I used to get a few.

I don't think cockroaches drink, so proximity to pubs is unlikely to be an issue.

It's all in your control. Keep your place clean and have traps/spray regularly and you shouldn't have that many cockroaches.

You can control the cockroaches but, unless you plan on commuting from the moon, you can't totally "avoid" them.

Thanks guys!

LOL! I know they don't drink! I meant places with lots of food in alleys etc.

I will look for newer, higher units then. Hate those crawlers!

We never spray and I've only seen a cockroach once or twice at our apartment. That being said, we have these weird hopping spiders and geckos running in and out of our apartment in the warmer months. Still, not as bad as Phuket, where we find all manner of strange bugs crawling around...lol. We live on a higher floor here.
