Driving to Shenzhen (Shekou) via Western Corridor

I will frequently have to travel from Hong Kong to Shekou area in Shenzhen. Anyone had expirience on crossing the HK-Shekou border (called Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor)?

Is it possible to get there by private car and park somewhere near the border to cross? Or what are the best options?

Any input is welcome.

Only vehicles with permits are allowed to cross the bridge and there are no parking areas that I know of.

I'd say the best way to do it is by public transport; buses B2 (From Tin Shui Wai MTR), B3/B3X (From Tuen Mun centre), there are also direct bus services from Jordan, Mongkok and other places (Not sure where).

By permits you are referring to Chinese registration plates? Or are there other permits?

I don't know the details of the permit but it's separate from having dual plates, i.e. the buses/taxis don't have dual plates.

Before you reach the bridge on the HK side there are signs saying 'Permit Holders Only'

Found the same on Wiki, thanks...

Hong Kong taxis, minibuses and cross-border buses are allowed access to the corridor; private vehicles must have the correct permit to use the corridor.
