I am going to HK within a month and my plan is go to ocean park on the first day, then go shoot some nice pics at victoria peak or even have a huge feast for the evening. Cruising in wanchai or hanging out in Lan kwai fong is an alternative when i feel like to get drunk and may know some new tourists friends or locals...worth give it a try.

Lucky you. As a person who visits HK once or twice a year for work I can say that I never feel like I have enough time to do all the touring I'd like to while there (although I always build a few days in my trips from the states to do so). The things I would recommend would be:

- 1st, visit the Tourist Booth at the Star Ferry pier in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. They have great little pocket maps and seem to know where everything is. If they don't, they'll get on the phone and find it for you.
- Star Ferry - Take the 7 minute ride across Victoria Harbour before they decide to retire these wonderful old ferries. Nice views, too.
- Take a slow boat out to Chaing Chau Island and hike the path around the island. Many old shrines, interesting cemetaries and the town is very old.
- On HK Island check out the flea market/antique shops in Cat St. Market. I always find something interesting there. Take the trolly to Morrison St. and start walking uphill. You'll find it.
- HK Light Show - You can view it from either side of Victoria Harbour but it's best from the Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui) side. Go to the Avenue of the Stars, see the Bruce Lee statue and have your picture taken, then move over to behind the Hong Kong Art Museum and find a spot to view from. I'd like to meet the person who thought this up. Truly insane - but really fun to watch.
- Talking Traffic Signals - Tick, tock, tick, tock. One of my favorite parts of the Hong Kong experience.
- The Peak - Take the tram up to the Peak. Wonderfull views if it's not socked in.
- Woodlands Restaurant - In Mirror Tower (street level) at 61 Mody Road (Tsim Sha Tsui east of Chatham Rd.) A very humble but excellent vegetarian Indian restaurant. Amazing food, incredibly reasonable.

There are lots of things to do in HK and I could easily spend a month there. If you want to get out in the New Territories there are great hiking trails that are accessible and interesting. Check out the Lantau Buddha for a day. Check out the city parks - the birds take refuge there. Wander around Kowloon - never boring. Enjoy your stay. - DT

I believe a few weeks ago KIA posted that Woodlands has closed. KIA can you confirm that for our visitor to HK.

Some other Indian vegetarian restaurants are:
Branto on Lock Rd. TST
India Palace on Hankow Rd. TST

Good Chinese Dim Sum that is Vegetarian also is,
Light Vegetarian Jordan Rd (Jordan MTR exit B)

Also know that several Museums are free on Wednesday afternoon's.

Agree, if you are here that length of time, certainly look at Macau. Not sure how much of Asia you have seen either but would certainly consider (depending on budget) a couple of days to a week elsewhere. Thailand, Cambodia (Angkor Temples) etc are easily reachable and relatively cheap. you could also look at a couple of days in beijing to see the great wall and the forbidden cty. check out ZUJI: Your Online Travel Guru to get an idea of flight costs.

also pick up a couple of decent guides. and the insight flexi map is the best street map I have found of hong kong for getting around when things are new.
