English Ped has pissed of a few people
Moving to Hong Kong

Hello to anyone who can help me.

I am looking to relocate to Hong Kong as it's a City I've wanted to reside in for quite sometime now.

I would like to get a job sorted pretty soon in order to assist with my Visa application. I'm open to pretty much any work available as I'm so keen to move, especially within the Hotel Industry as I'm good with people..

I'm keeping this brief as I find this helps.

Many thanks in advance.

Ped

you need to prove to immig that you have something that locals can't offer...

so what is special about you?

Most companies will go through the visa app for you if / when you get the job. BUT, as carang said, you can't just apply for anything. The employer needs to be able to prove that you offer something to the role that cannot be offered by a local. So unless you are looking at international hotel chains at a pretty senior level and with a CV to back it up, it's probably a no brainer.

Thanks

Appreciate the advice from all. Many thanks.

Does anyone know a good website to upload my cv and search for roles? Most of the websites I've searched have not been too helpful.

You really need to be more specific about what you think you can do which a local can't do. "Good with people" doesn't cut it, particularly since, I suspect, that means "English-speaking people". If you don't speak at least one version of Chinese fluently then there really are very, very few people-facing roles in Hong Kong which would have any chance of Immigration granting an Employment Visa. I have never seen a non-Chinese speaker in a non-management front of house role in a hotel here.
