My instant reaction? Don't believe his version of the story either.

Would you take this guy at his word if he's already conned and cheated along the way most of his (earlier) life? Now, apparently, he wants others to somehow "learn" from his hidden experience of illiteracy, blamed totally on poor schooling? Teachers, supposedly role-models, aren't saints, that is for sure, BUT who'd want their kids around an "educator" like him?!

Well, he's certainly inventive and lucky, clearly knowing how to publicise himself with eye-catching headlines and talks (I suspect, mainly to sell books & stuff on his self-named site).

This unusual tale brings to mind that famous Dylan line (forgive my off-the-cuff quote):

"You can fool some of the people SOME of the time, but you can't fool all of the people ALL of the time..."

In the US, the last line would be "become educational administrators" but same idea. Although I bet the adminstrators make more money than the inspectors. (Why hire 4 new teachers when you can hire one adminstrator?)
