2 questions...

Hi all,

I am going to be returning to HK to look for work (I worked there for three years, a couple of years back) and was just wondering if anyone could advise on the visa process. I have 2 questions.

If I enter on a tourist visa to look for work, then when someone sponsors me, I have to leave... how long do I have to leave for?

And will immigration need to see all my origional documents again or will they still have them on file...? I have photocopies with me, but am suspecting that maybe will cause some problems???

Thanks.

there are two ways to apply for your visa, 1) Change of status from visitor to whatever you want ( i guess employment thats what you want) 2) Direct entry visa. if you use channel one then you don't need to exit Hong Kong. if you use channel 2 then you must exit from hong Kong and come back when you have valid approved visa in your hand. the length depends on how fast you get visa and come back.

you must produce all originals or certified treu copis again, although they will have your old record but burden of proof is on you NOT on them, therefore for any new aplication it would be better for you to produce all documents again.

I left HK from 2003-2004 - as I was in BJG. I did not have to submit originals and have never submitted original diplomas of the schools (USA schools) I have graduated from just simple regular copies not even certified. Although, original is Best I have been told by others and I believe it even states om the documentation; immigration has never even requested to see the originals.

To answer one of the original questions: It does not matter for how long you leave after having received the employment visa sticker (assuming you choose the method of leaving and reentering HK SAR to change your visa status) - even a couple of minutes across the boundary to Shenzhen or a quick (same day return) trip Macau will do.
