New 3G iPhone shouldn't cost more than US$199 for the 8GB anywhere in the world. A significant drop from the US$599 original.

Wonder when multiple vendors will be selling per country, I imagine quite a few people visiting 3 shops this week.

The announced (8GB) $199 and (16GB) $299 pricepoints are valid when signing a 2-year contract with AT&T wireless stores. ($69/month ?)

If I recall from earlier postings on Engadget/Gizmodo/Digg, "3" has been selected to carry it in Hong Kong and I would presume subjected to similar contract-subsidizing.

man... yesterday i checked the iphone (old iphone) price at mongkok sintat,
the price averagely they sell for 4700-4900....
all store almost the same..... try to negotiate, only can give maximum 100HKD discount.

but i thought that last time they can sell it for around 3900 - 4000 right ? 8gig version i mean.. correct me if i'm wrong.

Yup prices seem to of gone up recently not sure why though, They were selling for around $4300 about a month or so ago.

Your choices are either wait for 3g next month or get a load of extra's with the current model if they can't/won't discount, i.e leather case, better headphones etc.

I'm off there tonight as I have my eye on one of the new softbanks and will take a look for you
