Try the HK Automobile Association, I sent them an e-mail a couple of years back and they came back to me with a quote of $26000 to ship a car from HK to Southampton.

most shipping companies will give you a rough quote. we used "links relocation" to move some stuff to Oz, they were going to crate my motorbike and move it too (until it got swiped by a bus and I was banned from riding again). they'll move anything that fits into a container. they gave online quotes and were pretty good (but they WAY over pack your household stuff with butchers paper!)

roughly they charge $80-100 per cu ft inc insurance. if you do send a car to Oz, contact the appropriate bod's in Oz. you will need to have the car go thru compliance testing etc regardless of whether the same vehicles are on Oz roads already, and if the car is over a certain value you will pay luxury car taxes as well as GST etc. unless it is a valuable beast, or unless you can get it undervalued in HK, it may not be worth it.

in saying that, I have some friends who used to make some good pocket money sending luxury cars back to Oz.

nb: you must have owned the vehicle for >12 months before you will permitted to export it to Oz. also, if there is somehting wrong with the paper work, and if they turn down your permit, you'll have to send the car back

i did some homework about a year ago, most of it has slipped my mind now, but i am sure i have some contacts somewhere deep in my gmail account i could scrounge up for ya, otherwise do a google and get some info.

HTH,

DDF
