| | | Cold Weather Alert Just wondering if anyone in Hong Kong has been directly affected by the long Cold Weather Alerts, over ten days now. And, will this cold weather affect business or the Hong Kong economy? Some vegetables and fruit prices have already gone up, and I hear the pork and chicken prices are set to rise, since most come from mainland China. If the cold weather lasts another 5-10 days it could be serious, and have some impact on Hong Kong.
Any inside information from expats?

| | | hi
this is the 1st time after 20yrs tht hk has so many cold days in a short. as hk is rather dependent on china for food supply so with the snowstorm in southern china, it is definitely going to affect our daily needs in hk. this is natural disaster and nothing we can do to avoid. we just need to tighten our belts and spent wisely.

I have seen no shortage of anything.
Despite feeling f#&%ing cold these days even in my home, I don't feel restricted.
(By the way, your post count stands at more than 4 billion! How did you do that? )

It's happening, but behind the scenes.
BTW, re: the 4 billion post counts - puzzled as to HOW you managed to fiddle with that number too

| | | Is it cold enough for everyone?
This is the longest and coldest spell in HK I have experienced in 7 years. And according to the Observatory, it is expected to last another week.
Global Winter? | |

Global Winter? | Seem to remember waaay back in the 1970s that we were facing the dawn of a new ice age. All the scientific evidence pointed to the glaciers marching down from their strongholds and engulfing the Earth.
Maybe they were right. | |

| | I am moving to Hong Kong from Boston, Massachusetts, where it is currently -9 C outside. I can't wait for the comparatively mild winters of Hong Kong!
Fingers crossed that the summers are bearable.... | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 05:31 AM.
