Ebay Hong Kong

I have tried to register with ebay but keep getting sent to the Hong Kong ebay....fine....understand the reasoning, but it is all in chinese.
Obviously I opted for the Eng button but it seems they got bored translating everything and even when you get to the final steps with a helpful local it then goes totally Chinese.
I tried to contact them but, you guessed it, it's all in chinese.
Am I missing something or is this really the case?

Are you triAre you trying to register with Ebay *generally* (i.e. not an Ebay HK account), or are you specifically trying to register with Ebay HK?

If the former, perhaps you could bypassing the automatic location 'feature' by going via an proxy.

If the latter, I'm not sure why you want to register anyway- Ebay HK seems pretty dire!

I wanted to register with .com but it makes you go to .com.hk to do so which I understand.
I have succeeded but it seems that for such a global enterprise the HK site is stuck in the 80's.

I registered with eBay several years ago by inputting a made-up US address. Once registered, I changed it to my actual address. I don't know if that's still possible but perhaps give it a go...

Ebay HK is a bit weird. It seems to be mainly another channel for commercial outfits to unload a hundred units of the same rubbish items onto the market, than for individuals trying to sell single items.

I'm not sure why HKers don't seem to use Ebay much. Maybe people here generally don't have goods of sufficient quality to try selling (everyone buys such cheap crap in the first place, then just tosses it), or because there are already a load of highly specialised secondhand internet markets in HK.

All of my Ebay transactions are with the US/UK or Oz.
