Credit Card Experience

I have been followng the tread on Credit card rejections, and found it quite interesting.
WOuld like to elicit views on a sort of "ulta" experience.

I have a Citibank card, and once or twice a year, Citi automatically increases the Credit Limit by abt 20-30%!

The first time, I sort of preened at this overdue recognition of one's worth!, but the second time I called up Citi and complained about increasing my limit without asking me.
Couple of months later , comes along another increase, and I called up and roundly abused the poor call centre girl.
who immediately reduced the limit back.

They have done it againa few days ago, and Im considering whether
a) to take them to court
b) "lose" my card , spend upto the new limit,
and refuse to pay for anything above the original limit

Im unsure of the legal status of their unilateral increase of limit.
Am I still liable if I lose the card, and somebody maxes it?
Any opinions?

It may turn into a catch 22 situation.

You might just need that extra credit limit to pay the lawyers.

HKNewBi has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Sue them for what exactly? You would have to prove damages, that might be difficult.

If you undertake your second option, to commit credit card fraud, you might find yourself having to call up for more credit to fund a legal defence.

Just out of interest, given all the ills in the world, why does this make the blood boil so much? Just tell them when they call that you would like to decline the limit. Like any commercial concern, they are trying to increase their profitability, which is hardly unreasonable.

I can't really see the detriment to this, and some customers (myself included) to appreciate having a larger credit limit. I have requested a larger credit limit from my credit card company in the past and in fact moved company as the limit one company refused to raise my limit to what I thought was a workable amount.
