| Employment Visa Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me in allaying some fears. I will be graduating in the coming months and will be moving to Hong Kong to begin work sometime in July. As a foreigner I understand that my company will be sponsoring my employment visa. I was wondering if there are any problems faced in terms of a visa not being given since I would only be a fresh graduate? or would it be smooth sailing? Appreciate any feedback. Cheers |

| Depends on the company sponsoring you and the paper work they do. As in .. if Goldman Sachs wanted you here, they'll get you here. But if Abdul Karim's Pakistani Grocery Store wanted you here, there might be a problem.

| Are you saying that you have been hired? If so, you should have no problems, as the company (if they understand immigration law) will take care of the visa. If you're asking "Is it hard to get a job as a fresh graduate?" the answer is probably yes, unless you can offer something that a local person couldn't, to the prospective employer in HK. You also should be aware that coming here to look for a job on a tourist visa is tech. not legal.... |

| It depends on a number of things. Will your salary be at least 20K per month? Preferably it shoud be over 30K with housing allowance. How large is the company? Why do they specifically need you? If the salary is too low or the candidate does not have at least a Bachelor degree then they will reject the application right away. |

| Hi there, I am also moving to work in HK with our new HK company as the sponsor, and I have sent over all the papers for application. Waiting for the results now. My situation would be different from yours as I am from Mainland China. However, here is the official link of the HK immigration office,so you can check out information here The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - Immigration Department. |

| If its an IB and they've offered you a job - no problems, they'd usually just hand the paper work to a consultant / lawyer who'll do the needful.

| Ahhhh Yeah, they asked me to liaise with a law firm... i was just worried that there would be problems since accepting the post would require me to break a bond on my end which wld be costly.. and sadly the timings dun overlap so it would be risky.. but thanks alot!!! |
