| Well, I'm often around Kowloon Tong and where CityU is, and know of 1-2 students there, but in Biz Admin. No solid knowledge of the Creative or Media Arts standards there, but generally from what I've seen of their foyer exhibitions, the "talent" is just so-so, with only 1 in 10 "innovative" out-of-the-box thinking and creations. The uni is supposedly one of the better well-equipped places to study your field (?).
My (limited) impression: CityU students are mostly very local, don't get opportunities to converse and so aren't confident in English - heard lecturers let them group-discuss in Chinese (but of course, that IS the norm).
Long time ago, attended their Toastmasters' debating sessions and found the English pretty shaky, so helps if you're willing to try their lingo, mix with them and put them at their ease. Some friendly souls there once ice breaks, but everybody's busy busy busy, and will rush off early because most live over an hr's commute away.
Like other unis, they've got an International Student Welcoming Club, or something like that - dunno about them though.
On plus side: CityU is very conveniently located; doesn't take more than 15-20mins to get to other more happening, lively places in HK. |
