Make it into China in time?

Hello,

It's been a while since I've headed into Shenzhen and I'm not taking my usual flights.

I arrive in HK at 7:10pm on Sunday night and I need to know if I'll be able to make it to the Lo Wu visa office before it closes at 9:30pm.

My plan is to catch a taxi to Sheung Shui KCR station and then take the KCR to Lo Wu. I forget how long this journey takes though. Is it around 30/45 mins?

Do you think I will be able to make it in time? What will the HK airport visa lines be like considering it's Chinese NY?

Thanks for your help!

Lo Wu is open until midnight at normal times anyway (and at CNY I seem to recall it goes to 24 hours).
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - Immigration Department

Not sure what you mean by the "HK Airport Visa lines".

You also have the option of a ferry direct from airside at HK Airport to Shenzhen (Shekou) which departs at 20:30 (or 21:20 if you miss that). Details here: Hong Kong International Airport - Passenger Guide
in which case you don't have to go through HK Immigration at all.

Or various coaches, which leave up until 11pm:

Is anyone able to confirm the closing time of the Lo Wu visa office?

FFS! The link I gave above is the official homepage of the HK Immigration Service and it says that the checkpoint is open until midnight, which is long after you will arrive there. What further evidence do you need?

The border crossing is open until midnight, however I am asking about the visa office, i.e. the visa office at the top of the stairs opposite the immigration desks where you can get a 5 day visa.

This website seems to state that the Visa office closes at 7pm:

China Travel Service (H.K.) Limited

However, I've been informed by a colleague that it actually closes at 9pm. So I am asking here if anyone else knows?

Oh, OK, sorry. I misunderstood/misread. But you can see from the same link that CTS has a counter at the airport which is open until 10pm so presumably that might work for you?

No problem.

I had posted much nicer replies asking about the visa office, but they kept disappearing (see my post in the Site Feedback section of the forum). So in the end I posted my short, one sentence post and it stuck!

I've spoken to someone at CTS and I think I've ascertained it closes at 9pm. So I'll give it a shot!

Tho this post is old, a little FYI...Shenzhen 5 day visas are only available from the Lo Wu CTS Office (up the stairs at Immigration)...this from the CTS office I just called...so getting the 5 day visa ahead of time is not an option, at the airport or any other CTS office...I wonder what happened to the OP...
