Reema,

Interesting perspective on Dublin Jacks. We've found it a bit faceless. The beer's not that cheap or exceptional and the food is pretty err ... common.

Should give it a try again.

My favourite pub in HK is Stormy Weather in Lan Kwai Fong.

Good atmosphere, decent decor, good crowd, freindly staff and nice beer.

I have been going to this pub since they have opened in LKF. Initially it used be less crowded, but now a days it gets more crowded after 9 PM especially on Fridays. But still it is fun.

I never spoke to the staff there, but couple of them still remembers me and ask me how I have been.

Hey Kevin - next Tuesday evening ( 3rd June) I'm planning to raid the Railway Tavern with a friend. Why don't you join in and get Shri too ?
KK - how about a repeat ?
Abhi and others - fancy a trip to Tai Wai to drink ale at the only true English pub in Hong Kong with signs like "when nature calls, please don't answer through the window" ?

My favoured watering hole is the Biergarten (sister pub of Bit Point) in Hanoi Road TST.
The variety of beers is as good as in Schnurrbart. Great atmosphare, especially when soccer games or formula 1 is on, and good comfort food for very reasonable prices. The lentil soup is to die for....
PS: They have asparagus promotion at the moment

Kangaroo in TST . Downstairs gets very rowdy in the evening with some cool music whilst you have the upstairs for a quiter dirnk. Good food as well and a great place to spend a lazy afternoon.

One of only 2 pubs off the Island that I know for sure Shri has visited

Is this an open invite? I happen to be over at Hung Hom on business at the end of the afternoon tomorrow... I assume The Railway Tavern is fairly easy to reach from there by train? Is it the sort of place one can go to in a suit without feeeling a total pillock?

Paul, Open invite... don't think people would be posting it here if it wasnt.

Still trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to make it and if I need to carry my passport with me.

Hi guys

Yes of course open invite. And Paul you certainly can come in a suit.

Time: 7 pm. Address: Railway Tavern, #4 and 5, Ho Sze House, Chik Luk Lane. Tai wai. Phone 26916500

You can chech out the location and print a map from
http://www.ypmap.com/en/viewer.asp?m...ce=LocationMap

Essentially come out of the Tai wai KCR station, cross the road, go right, walk for a few mins ( On Tsuen Nam road) past the rows of Cantonese street food stalls, and take the second left to Chik Luk lane. That's where it is.

Whoever's making it - pl call me 96307513
