BelAir Noise - Quiter Places? Hi Everyone, I am going nuts in Bel-Air, it is so noisy here and I need to move ASAP. Can anyone recommend to me a more quiet block? The problem with Bel-Air is that the materials they have used to build the place are low quality and there is zero soundproofing. I don't mind noise from outside, but NOT on top of my head and next door 24/7. Is Bamboo Grove, 80 Robinson Rd or Centre Place quieter??? Better soundproofing here??? Does anyone have any ideas of somewhere they can recommend to me please? Midlevels West/ Central preferred, professional couple with no kids, but do like a gym in the block, close to shops and supermarket, with nice view. Any help is most appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon. Is it possible in HK to find what we are looking for?!!!!!

Which block / phase are you in? We've got several members who live there .. can ask them if there are quieter blocks.

beware though that hk is not know for its high standards of construction... i would think that shoddy construction is the complaint of the majority, rather than the minority. the buildings all LOOK great from the outside, but the interiors are usually very shoddy. good luck finding a new place.

Oh Carang, I fear you are right. I have been reading on here all afternoon and my heart is sinking after reading what others have said about their noise issues as well. It is the majority, you are correct! I love HK, I do, I don't want to have to leave but.... Now I am wondering, is it worth moving from Bel-Air only to be miserable elsewhere or shall I take the plunge?

The first building I was in was great for noise...only 2 apartments per floor and we could never hear the neighbours from above, below or beside but having now moved things are not so great but it has as much to do with the people around you than the soundproofing and you can't do much to choose your neighbours sadly. Upstairs we had a kid who ran around all the time thumping on the floor - thankfully they seemed to have moved but the new people take baths very late at night and you can hear the water sloshing alot. Now we seem to have a baby downstairs I think, and every morning at about 3 or 4am it screams its lungs out and even though our windows are shut theirs are open which makes it worse. What I would do is try for a small block like our old one (Cherry Crest near Soho - do a search for details and I have posted about it before) or try and get an apartment below the refuge floor. Every building has at least 1 empty floor in case of fire and if you get an apartment on the floor below you will have nobody walking on your head.
