Nuts&Bolts is on a distinguished road
Thumbs down Why are Gx "PINGS" 10 times slower than Ax ??

Whenever I come here - my CPU meter shows 100% usage for a loooooong time whilst attempting to load in the first webpage of GX.

My Ping Test shows up to 327ms return & 55 TTL for Gx. Minimum is around about 229ms & TTL of 55

However, the "Evil Empire" shows a minimum of 22ms and (very occasionally 122ms with a TTL of 122

I *can* see the difference - here it's taking ages to change from {say} "Classified" to "Forum" and within each option too.

It's almost a step back in to "dial-up" days where one went to make a coffee whilst a complex page was loading.

Anyone else notice how sloooow this site is?

Is it due to the choice of location & ownership of the web-servers?

Whilst I don't expect smaller sites to be "turbo-charged", I would hope that a "local" site responded quicker than this one does.

Comments anyone? Am I the only one who's seeing slow loading?

Ping times will be different on GeoExpat depending which domain you ping.

www dot geoexpat.com will have different timings from geoexpat.com

I really don't know why you bother coming here... with all bitching and moaning you do about us on other sites and other sites on here. Don't think site owners don't know and talk about your weirdness.

Looks like you have some connectivity problems - Geo is pretty much instantaneous loading for me regardless of whether I connect from home through Netvigator, or from work through a corporate gateway in the US.

No problems for me either. Time to slurp my coffee but definitely not make it. Some people just have a very sad life with nothing better to think about I guess.

Nuts, if you care so much and would like to really contribute, could you get your cheque book out, cut me a check? I will go and work for Geo for a couple of weeks and will tune the site to your liking.

How's about that?
