If you get to Sai Kung Town Camka, TMT real estate agents are located a few doors up from McDonald's. Theres about 3 or 4 agencies right near TMT, so you wont have any problem finding an agent. I dont believe they are any worse or better than one another. You shouldn't have any problems, they are a lot more relaxed as far as agents go, compared to other locations.

Property agents in Saikung

Hello there !
I was in HK last week and visited about 10 agents in Saikung ! One of them, which name I don't remember but which is next to Century 21 I think at its left, had a good offer for us. I was really happy with one of their house, but once I started negociation with the owner but through the agent and my collegue (in chinese), the mess started :
the owner raise the price instead of decreasing it, said he would install an old aircon, and then proposed to make contract for 2/3 of the renthals and we would pay the last third "undeclared" so that he would pay less taxes !!!
By the end of two days of visits, I was just completly disappointed and went back home without any place for my family to leave !!!
So, in case you here a good place would be free by mid-April, keep me informed...
I am looking for a 4-bedroom, with garden or roof top, within walking distance from Saikung town. Budget is 30k max.
And if you are looking for a property agent, don't go to this one (name is something like Quonoa)...

Aww what an anti climax, I feel so sorry for you. It really sucks when agents/landlords in Hong Kong do this, with no conscience to how it makes people feel, especially first timers new to the city. Not a very nice first impression.

Sorry to hear that happened to you Camka. Most of us here have had bad dealings with property via the landlord or agent at one time or another, its just how it is unfortunately, you have every right to be upset.

Don't let it get you down, you will find something good in the end, just keep your chin up.

I agree with all the above about Sai Kung and the surroundings- we have a 19 month old and a new arrival in march and bought near Marina Cove in June. No looking back- there is so much to do for kids with Socatots, playgroups, playgrounds, walks etc.
Can't wait to get the youngest out sailing, kayaking etc!
I'm surprised you had a tough time with the agent/landlord as 30k/m should get you a great place and a choice of them.

Send a PM to JennyOriental, she's a member's wife (well equipped to handle expats) who might have some listings in the area.

I was house hunting over the weekend for my expat friend and found for 30K you can get the whole village type house, 2100 Sqft, 3-5 bedrooms with garden and roof. There is a few in clear water bay (Ng Fai Tin) village, 5-7 mins to Hang Hau MTR Station or 20-30 mins to Kwun Tong depending on traffic by Green Mini Bus.

from here to sai kung town will be around 15-20 mins depending on traffic.

Contact Ms. Pam Chak 9443 4944 (Wider Hong Property Agency), She speaks good english and was very eager to help. for 15K commision each I would be as well probably. haahaaa
