A friend of mind is an Australian born Chinese and he's recently telling me that he's interested in working in hk. he was wondering if he could get a hk i.d. card while he's an Australian Citizen.
is his case the same as those Phillipino maids who are working in hk while they are the citizens of the Phillipines?

hkid relates to residency, not citizenship, so yes, your friend can get one as long as he meets the requirements of IMMD.

Yes,most people coming to Hong Kong for work or other reasons can usually get an HKID. Check the Immigration website for details. It may take a little time before it is issued. I got my ID about 1 month after arrival. I am still a citizen of another country. But have lived and worked in HK for 7 years. Good luck.
