hi...
probably going to get my hands on a decent set of the US iphone. anyone has any experience cracking it ? is it software based cracks ? or chips ?

I met a guy on a plane a couple months ago and he had an iPhone - freaking amazing piece of gear. I asked him about the cracking and he said it was software based and no big deal. I've got to dig up his biz card and I'll ask him where he did it.

bought one out here already cracked...but had a small issue due to my stupidity...and needed to re-crack it.

very simple to do....and the thing words flawlessly out here and in china.

i bought a cracked one in mongkok for 3k HK$ and works perfectly

its super easy to crack the iphone these days.
Takes about 5min and a simple google search should get you to the places where to dload it.
But i would rather hold out untill the 3G version comes out in a few month.
And i'm not really that impressed with it.
No file manager, cant exchange the battery, not really neat design if you ask me...i hate chrome, no mms, no 3G and of course the 1st gen issues.

But i'm very happy that my ex boss paid a hefty price for it only to see it drop to 1/3 the next week :P

mms now works via 3rd party ...and will be an official update by apple soon

3G will not be released within a few months...but more likely available at end of 2008 or early 2009

maximiphones is where i bought from and they are great.
they deliver to your door in hk, and set up everything for you, and provide help and support for future problems.

also...prices fluctuate a lot.....but are relatively high right now due to the resources are limited.

most legal shops in us and europe only sell the 1.1.2 which does not hack too well.

other stores in HK usually have 1.0.2 or 1.1.1, but the price is high due to limited supplies
