It's south-South City, next to the airport. I worked for a messaging & integration company called
TIBCO.
My startup is doing similar stuff but all F/OSS. It's all challenging and interesting stuff, although difficult to expand here due to availability of technical skills. Whilst the benefits of "Enterprise software" are easy to see, the knowledge to develop and the funding to pay for is often too high for many.
I also work on a range of external and internal websites for a few companies and its becoming exceedingly uncommon to get original, quality professional work. Spending over HK$100k doesn't guarantee any better standard of work, and we have contracted out in HK, Korea, Japan, and the US.
Similarly hosting is a big problem here, you can tell with all the other related posts. You can get 1gb Internet connections at home, but getting a hosting provider with a connection faster than 1-1.5mb at a reasonable price is unusual.
There's a distinct gap between supply and expectation of customers, and constantly being driven wider with new fancier web 2.doh sites.
