Night/Dance clubs in Hong Kong???

Hey guys,

I am moving to HK in 3 weeks and was wondered what kind of night life is in there? I love huge dance clubs with capacity of a few thousand people and funky house, rave, dance music playing all night long. Do you know if there is anything like that in HK? Oh, yeah and do you know what time do they stop serving alcohol at bars/clubs/supermakets and what time do night clubs normally get shut (2, 3, 4, 5 am)? I am in Los Angeles right now and most of places get closed at 2am, I am so sad about it...)))

Thanks for your advice!

Alex

bars and disco's in some area's are open until 7-9 am. some bars/disco's dont get busy until after 4 am so you can party 24 hours if you like in hongkong.

There is no large clubs in HK, only when they have international DJ's that come to HK for one or two nights then you might get a big place for Rave and so on, most clubs in HK are quite small as space is very expensive.

You will enjoy the nightlife in HK very much as its 24 hours.

Champagne and baileys free for ladies on Thursdays cant be bad!.. but watch out on door staff, very rude... first time i saw a rude staff in Hong Kong... and perhaps the only one...

mckpoon will become famous soon enough

the electronic scene in HK is much much MUCH less prevalent than LA, that's for sure!

much of what is played in bars/clubs is top 40s, conventional hip-hop + house, which is usually somewhere around tech house and alot less funky.

every once in awhile you might see a big name dj. once in awhile. however, the nightlife is pretty keen on bringing in pretty good hip-hop acts (i hope we're clear on what hip-hop is).

you'll be hard up to find a warehouse party as regular as in the US, so perhaps zero in on the music you like and go from there... there's quite a few spots with good music, but you just gotta find them ;]

If you want to have an idea about different places and what is going on, this website writes quite a lot about experiencing nightlife:

http://www.hongkonghustle.com/

As said above, places tend to be small, music tends to be very average. For better music usually Yumla is a good place, but it is extremely small. Above website mentioned Club Cliq as being a bit bigger than average, I haven't been there yet.
