Only Mr. Musharraf would benefit of this violent death, he not just eleminates the strongest opposition leader, but, would get huge support from Mr. Bush for "fighting terrorism", great game Mr. Musharraf..

As far as killing Gandhi is concerned, well he was killed by a hindu (Nathuram Godse), but Godse had his reasons to do so, in his mind, he found Gandhi/Nehru responsible for the partition and the carnage that followed, millions of ppl lost their homes and livelihood, ppl were massacarred, men saw their, mothers, wives, sisters, daughters being raped in front of their eyes by number of men and then killed or just left to die. Such thing had happened with Godse and his ppl, so they planned to kill Gandhi.
Let me make it clear I am not a Godse supporter and respect Gandhi for what ever good he had done in his life and disrespect him for whatever bad he has doe after his death...

But the Star Trek analogy still looks to me, as the best solution, if we want the world paddling the canoe of life, in the same proactive direction.
But it isn't religion. It's a quest for more power/money/prestige/the most babes hanging off your arm/whatever. While you might not be of that mind, plenty of others are. They will fight your "new, world order" tooth and nail because you are removing their power/money/prestige/way of life.
And the Trekkie analogy does look good, it is just rather utopian. Assume their are millions just like you; it would only take 1/2 or 1/3 of your number to be on the other side to really ruin your day.

I don't agree. Musharraf has little to gain doing anything that whould hinder making Pakistan a legitimate state. Bhutto was cozied up with him to get back without the corruption charges being activated. She was also a pragmatic western sided politician. Exactly what he needed but a HUGE danger sign to others of evil intent.

The ISS will always be blamed for everything controversial but I still feel the hand lies elsewhere. As for any inquiry - people will believe what they want and never let the facts get in the way.

May be, but isn't rawalpindi is one of the most secure places in Pakistan? If something like this could happen at a place that has garrisson, then what hope is there for ppl at other parts of the country?

Lets just say, she would have been more secure had she had the Mossad guarding her ...

Then, may be not.

Boris : Its the ISI.

This sort of thing is ridiculously easy.. If you had a brainwashed lackey you could blow him up basically anywhere in any country.

For what its worth Musharaff is unlikely to be the guy. PPP would sweep power by carrying angelic photos of the recently martyred BB.

Sharif has done the logical thing and boycotted elections knowing there is no way he is going to win..I think he was a genuine contender and this whole fracas is not much of a gain for him. : so unikely murderer.

The Mullahs espousing hardline islam may be the un sexy choice but they are number one in my book. A female PM openly supporting the west , talking to india and israel even!!...and without the security cordon of musharraf seems a target too good to be true.

So Professor Plum in the study it is.

Exactly, the fact is that Al-Qaeda freely operate in much of Pakistan and given the strong anti-Western sentiment that pervades much of the country how long before the terrorists take over? Civil war is beckoning for Pakistan.

Excellent post Sleuth !

The world is far from perfect, and I do agree with your post.
I understand where you are coming from.

So.. may be they did it. Has anyone figured what sort of marksman it would take to get a bullet into her neck?

Funny ... in the good old days if anything went wrong in Pakistan, it was the RAW that was behind it. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_and_Analysis_Wing )
