help! im really stressed out :(

Hi,

I have to get from Shenzhen to Hong Kong to renew my visa.

I fly from Beijing on the 27th and arrive at 1200am. I need to be at the Chinese visa office by 9am the next day. I've been searching and everyone tells me different things. Can you help?

1 - how do i get to HK from SZ airport at that time of night (im on a budget)?

2 - What is the nearest station to the China visa office called in HK?

Thanks, im rushing and really freaking out as i dont speak much Chinese.

1. Well in 9 hours I guess you could just about walk it! I believe there are buses from SZ airport to Hong Kong (even to Wanchai), but I've never seen a timetable online.

2. Wanchai MTR. There's a map on the Visa office's webpage here:

I'm assuming it's a tourist visa you are trying to renew? There are quicker, easier, but slightly more expensive, ways to do this than the Chinese visa office (e.g. the CTS offices).

If no other transportation available, take a taxi to the Huanggang border to enter HK.

Yoa can take a look at the information here:

http://eng.szairport.com/catalog_470.aspx

Some of the 'English' information appears to have been translated by Google/Babelfish etc. but should be intelligble enough, however it may be worth having a Chinese friend/colleague look at the information available on the Chinese site.

A quick glance at the info suggests that a taxi to Huangang may be the only option available at that time.

Try the map link below:

http://www.mtr.com.hk/jplanner/eng/m...mapimg=lmc.gif

You'll want to go to Huanggang 'Frontier Inspection Station', not 'Station' (It will not be open at that time)

Actually, there is a counter just before the exit at SZ airport that sells tickets to HK about RMB100 if I remember correctly. Tell them you want to go HK, Wanchai. They will use a minivan to send you to the Huanggang Checkpoint, from there you cross over, they will put a sticker on you so that if you get lost, just point to the sticker on your shirt and the "bus guide" will tell you which bus to board. The bus will then take you over to HK side checkpoint and you do the same again. Come out, look for I think platform 14/15, thats where the wanchai bus stops. In any case, use the sticker on your shirt and ask the bus attendants again. This bus should take you directly to wanchai and you are within walking distance to the immigration dept.

But like what PDLM suggested, if you are doing CHina visa, I strongly suggest that you use CTS unless you are on a very tight budget. Reason being that CTS can do "wonders" that the local visa office can't. That includes getting your visa done in record time on public holiday and also getting longer period visa. I had bad experiences at the CHina immigration dept in HK. They insist that I don't qualify for multiple 1 year visa when my last 2 were multi 1 year

Just a reminder for you, if you want to get the EXPRESS VISA (within the same day), you MUST go to the CTS Office in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Thanks guys....so does this seem corect:

1 - Fly BJ-SZ, arrive around midnight tonight.
2 - No buses/trains run at this time, so take a taxi to HuangGuang Frontier Station to enter into HK.
3 - Take train from XX to Macao.
4 - In Macao, find way to Tsim Sha Tsui CTS office by 9am.
5 - Give one picture and passport to them, get express so i can collect same day.
6 - Find a hotel for the night in either HK or SZ, fly back afternoon of the 29th.

Is this correct?

If so, i'll put a link to this on the Beijing expats page for fture reference, as loads of people have asked.

Thanks to you all....looking forward to HK!
