Hong Kong ID

Hello,
I was born in Hong Kong, Now an American citizen.
I have an old HK id with just my given name and no picture. ( this is when I was 5 years old )
I will be in HK to apply for a permanent HK id card.
What documents do I need & where do I go??
Please advise. When it comes to Gov't stuff, I am lost.
Thanks ahead.
