In Causeway Bay last night, one place offered $7.07 HK for a Cdn dollar. I came home and checked and Berlin is at $7.804 - a significant difference. I hope people check this thread and this outfit's website. They moved to the 17th floor now from 12. |

| Rate paid today by Berlin was $7.809HK for $1CDN which by my calculation is a huge difference than what the local booths are paying to tourists down at the street level in HK. This outfit is looking at the computer at the time of the transaction and it is not some fixed rate on the board of a booth manned by junior staff. I am not trying to give a commercial here but these guys pay far more than any rates I've seen around HK and there is no fee for service on this. That is what they were giving. As the Cdn dollar rises or falls, so will the fees paid. Do not go to the street level shops is my only message but do some checking first. |

Did you get a good rate? Did you find as I suggest that the rates are the best around? |

| Was in HK 2 weeks ago. The best rate is Berlin, however, I was irritated with them since they need your original passport if you were to buy over 8000 HKD. ( I needed to change a lot since I was buying a macbook (and yes best to buy mac in HK . Slightly cheaper than in US since you dont pay for tax and shipping and the 1 year warranty is worldwide)) I went also to Chunking mansion, the rate was slightly less by only .02 cents - they were ok with having a copy of your passport! The line when I went at Berlin wasnt too long. Hope this helps! |

| I once went into Berlin with someone who changed a large quantity of Euros into HKD and then filled his pockets (and mine) with wads of cash. Walked out really casually and caught a cab home. He swears by it and has been using it for years. |

This guy is right. I went there yesterday and had to wait a half hour. Granted it was about 1 pm where I didn't wait earlier in the morning. The good news is that I found out that you jump the queue like many did IF you call ahead for an appointment. I just found out too that if you search Berlin Company Exchange on Google.com.hk, the first post is mine on Geoexpat with the header best place to exchange money. Does your site knowitall get credit for that???? I hope so. |
