True, however the max res of 576P x 720 (Standard PAL DVD) should be fine for downloads...

From what I've learned so far; DivX and xvid files play as standard but are not advertised in the spec, the plugins available for purchase are for Mpeg 2 and H264 files..

I'll have to find the article ... I think I read it through my RSS feeds on Yahoo news - Search Archos and you might find the review which indicates that DiVX might not be supported. Having said that, the reviewer / writer might have just speculated its from the specs.

I reckon that might be the case, the specs for the AV400 do not mention divx/xvid support however it can definately play these files.
