Smile Shanghai Accomodation

We have decided to go to Shanghai for 5 days in the first week of March. Not having been before I am finding all the accomodation choices a little daunting. Which is the most conveniant location for a short visit? What about the "boutique" hotels in the french concession area. Also all the prices seem so high. Anywebsite or travel agent suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Shanghai accommodation

Hi Jkoch,

For first timer, "Puxi" is more convenient than "Pudong" in Shanghai, somewhere near People's Square or the Bund is handy for sightseeing.
If you are going with your family.. i.e. more than 2 person, I recommend staying at one of the service apartments for better value accommodation.
For hotels, Sofitel is in a very central position or can try Mayfair Hotel which is right next to a tube station and a department store.
For boutique hotel, try this
http://www.oldhouse.cn/
a boutique hotel in a 1930s lane house in the former French Concession area.
If you need further advice, can email me at enquiry@designholiday.com
