hi guys, we're planning a quick trip up to guangzhou next weekend and would love some recommendations of areas we should check out in terms of restaurants and shopping. Any recos? Any 'hip areas' (like soho in hk or xintandi in shanghai) up in GZ?

shopping: citic plaza, tee mall (in tianhe), wtc & la perla (opposite garden hotel, just tell to taxi driver 'shimao')
eating & drinking: oggi restaurant, senses bar, citic plaza, shimao & the area around
nightlife: shimao area (jien shi lu ma lu) - cellar, c-union, velvet...

When u reach Guangzhou all hotels have this magazine which gives u details about food, shopping etc. It is monthly magazine pretty good. I am not sure what is called but is available free of charge at all hotels

Just returned.....actualy I go there regularly. I used to work in GZ almost 2 yrs and quite familiar with the area
