| Whatever the rationale I'll bet the last sticky pudding that is got more to do with bucks than altruism.
At times M&S need to revisit Marketing 101. The stores vary their merchandise so what is availabe in one is not available in another. Sure, they'll transfer it but it takes them 2-3 days to get stuff from Kowloon to HK side! They also get their instore promo materials from London, the stupidity being they advertise merchandise that is not shipped to HK.
A lot of customer gripes could be resolved if M&S got off their !!** and went international with their online store. What do they do? They post a one-liner telling people that, 'They're working on it.' The one-liner's been there for donkies.
All in all, it's not surprising that there are sites in Brit that are devoted to posting often less than flattering comments about Stuart Rose, the retail empire he commands and what seems, from some posts, to be a very cavalier attitude to 'service' at M&S.
It should not have escaped Rose and the collective memory of M&S execs that the company hit heavy weather relatively recently. Unfortunately, the law of fast-forgetting is an all-to-frequent malaise in many organisations. |
