The couple seems like the usual European sc*m.
The father is Asian (Indonesian Dutch).

neha will become famous soon enough
i agree that it is better for the child to be adopted within his/her own culture but there are lot of cases where being from different cultures has worked wonderfully for the parents and kids. Also u cannot generalize and say all Europeans are SC*M.

I agree in this case the parents are sc*m

Assuming that they are your natural kids I don't see how that is relevant to this discussion. But I don't know Dutch immigration law - under UK law a foreign kid adopted by a UK citizen in a foreign country doesn't get the automatic right to UK citizenship. However, the links posted above suggest that Dutch Immigration law is similar.

And, by the way, I'd be surprised if your grandchildren had the right to a Dutch passport if they are born overseas as well. That, again, would be the case under UK law.

redwriter: usually means the software is close to banning you. Not seen the logs, but given the number of email reports we've had about your euro-scum comment .. I'd not be surprised if it was multiple reds.

PDLM, I know you KNOW EVERYTHING but I do have a British friend who was married to a Singaporean and they adopted from China and the kid that get a British passport. All done whilst in Singapore.

If I am correct, as long one of the parents is naturalised, the kid/adopted kid is entitled to British Ciotizenship.

Now to the dutch couple, at least in the UK papers it says that the kid not getting the Dutch citizenship was more and oversight by the parents than anything to do with the immigration rules. Disgrace given the father is a diplomat - could have just asked one of his mates at the Embassy/consulate.

Now.....please don't red dot me ! I value you my green stars !

Shame on the Dutch nation for having such disgraceful diplomats.
I suggest a boycott on commercial relations with Dutch companies till the Netherland apologizes to the girl, sets up a trustee fund to cater for her financial needs for the next 20 years, and pays a monthly maintenance fee for the Chinese family that has adopted the girl.

And we stop trading with FORTIS Bank of course.
We shall all close our Private banking accounts with FORTIS.
This has nothing to do with the Netherlands. Don't generalize. This story was met with outrage when it came out in the Dutch newspapers....

And apparently, the Dutch government isn't taking it lightly either, because Poeteray was called home for an explanation with his superiors (scheduled next week I think).

you know, I just find it unbelievable. Any decent parent would stick next to their children through thick and thin regardless of the situation (i.e. natural or adopted). Anyone who wouldn't do so just doesn't deserve to have kids. It's appalling actually.

Different situation - that is an inter-country adoption which is governed by a specific UN treaty. The case in question was a local adoption in Korea by Korean residents under Korean law. That's different as far as the British nationality laws are concerned.
