If I was the diplomat named in these reports I think I'd have gone ex-directory as a matter of urgency...

clip_my_wings is on a distinguished road
name and shame ...

A quick search on the internet, the heartless couple are
Raymond and Meta Poeteray
Palm Drive Stanley
<snip>

this story is actually being picked up by most publications, including the gaurdian, washington post, SCMP, etc ...

poor Meta is apparently having to to undergo counselling most probably at the expense of the dutch tax payer but what is not clear is if the charming Raymond, will be paying for the counselling required for there discarded daughter ...

anyway if anyone knows these people I strongly suggest you discontinue your association ...

interesting here is a web page of the couple celebrating NY 2005

http://www.occlub.org/occ/activities...o/05-01-ny.htm

The writer thanks the couple and their son jamie for welcoming and inviting them into their "Mansion" home ....

so no mention of there adopted daughter Jade then .???. maybe she was stashed away for that new years party as they couldn't find any suitable food for her ...

my question is why does the couple need counselling over this incident??? apparently they are not in anyway attached to the little girl, Jade. I do not think they even have an ounce of guilt!

It's Jade who needs counselling and guidance.

Wonder if the parents can be prosecuted like the Irish couple that returned their adopted child to the orphanage.

Presumably he isn't going to name Mother's Choice and the WSD as specifically advising the re-adoption unless it is true - that would be incredibly dumb. So we have to assume (absent any denials from Mother's Choice / WSD) that what he is saying is true.

And who are we to think we know better than such a highly-respected outfit as Mother's Choice (see threads here passim)?

it is a believable story, and with credible references.........

BUT

i'm sorry - his supposedly emotional hardships with jade does not fly with me

Jade may have emotional and psychological problems, and I would have no quarrel over that but they got her when she was 4 months old !!!!

I doubt it that Jade got her emotional problem from genetics.

They adopted her at a very early age, so wouldn't this cast doubt that their parenting skills made her that way?

Not necessarily. Sounds like a form of autism which I think is genetic, though I'm no expert.

So they have not "given her back" but instead she has been temporarily taken into care and she does speak Dutch as well as English and Cantonese. The shock horror story is starting to unravel a bit isn't it?

There was an article in Newsweek this week about this issue:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/74385

It really seems like an awful situation to be in.
