VISA after graduation

One of my friends is going to graduate from CUHK, he is a German. He wants to stay in HK for a couple of monthes for job hunting. Should he apply a new visa? Is there a one year visa available for the newly graduated students? Holding a Germany passport means 90-days stay in HK as a visitor without application. Thanks!

As long as your friend does not have a job, he can not apply for another visa. (Unless he marries a HK permanent resident or starts his own business). So he has to stay as tourist and go to Macau or Shenzhen every 90 days and come back to HK to renew his tourist status. But this only works 1 or 2 times and then the immigration officers will start asking questions.

As a German you a 90 days tourist visa, so you can go to Macau or Shenzhen once or twice, that should be sufficient. If you dont have a job after 180 days it is probably better to go back anyway. I have some friends that did the same as tourists, they didnt have any troubles with the immigration. Another way would be to apply under the quality migrant scheme.
