| HSBC Credit Card i just graduated n came to hk to work in a mnc company. this is my first job. the lady at hsbc told me the minimum salary is 5k to get a card. i brought along my employment letter, first month salary statement (only 2 weeks pay as i started mid month but still way higher than the min 5k), made a 10k deposit and still my application got rejected. i'm f**king pissed! when i ask them why, they say my application was rejected bcos of business purposes. unless i change my profile details, they can't give me a card. now wat the f*** do they wan me to change in my application details? my name? my address? can someone let me know which bank approves applications easily? i need a card....real bad |

| mad-dog : don't worry .. I know premier account holders (from other countries) who've been rejected by the retail staff (three people to date..) Simpler to just deal with some of the smaller banks. HSBC is not the only game in town. I'd recommend Citi / BEA / Stan Chart as great alternatives to HSBC. At the end of the day, why do you want to do business with those who don't want to do business with you? Unless you have that sheep mentality that "I must go with this bank because everyone else does".

| I am on of those 3 that KIA refers to. I just waited for the 3 salary deposits over three months before they accpeted my application for the credit card. I had banked with them in another country for nearly 4 years with a Premier account and they didn't recognise me. You either wait for the 3mths or take your business elsewhere. Citi are pretty good. Now...for the wrath of the resident HSBC fan to come for my throat..... |

| mad-d0g : one thing... I'd speculate from the lack of caps in your post that you're from India (and the fact that you used the term "mnc"). If that is the case, don't bet on getting a card from HSBC.

| yea i'm gonna apply elsewhere and im wondering if anyone knows of any banks i can get one easily. somehow after the hsbc exp, i think it's quite tough to apply for a card here. it's just so troublesome needing to look for an atm machine all the time. |

The point is that you need to deal with your Premier relationship manager in the country where you meet the Premier criterion and get them to introduce you locally. |

| It is not hard to get a credit card in HK at all with the exception of HSBC. After failing to get one from HSBC, I got two from Citibank, one from DBS, one from ABN. My primary card is from Citibank because of the good service. |

| The only credit card rejection I've had was from BEA. I got a letter saying that i didn't meet the min. salary requirement when i was well over it. I asked for an explanation but never got one. |
