| | | Dependant Visa = HK ID ? I just registered my marriage in Hong Kong, and i want to apply for Hk resident, I went to wanchai Immigration tower and they gave me a form to fill it, and then send via post. They told me to fill the form for dependant visa. does dependant visa means HK ID ?
I have some questions about dependant visa, normally it takes 4-6 weeks, but due to my lenght stay in Hk only for 30 days, does it means i can do a day trip to mainland or macau for renewing my visa till my dependant visa approved?
Many Thanks for replying

It could take anywhere from 4-8 weeks or more, depending on whether Immigration is happy with the documents submitted. But you should be able to get an Extension of Stay on your existing visitor visa whilst they are processing your application. Simply go to the Extension of Stay floor at Immigration Tower in Wanchai and explain your situation.

| | | No - you need all of that to get the Dependant's Visa. Once you have the visa getting the HKID card is a very straightforward process. It is getting the Dependant Visa which will be non-trivial. | |

Many Thanks for replying | I don't think you need to extend your visa. I don't remember my wife having to do so but that was 8 yrs ago. Just go away and come back anytime you like. Call the immigration dept and ask if not sure. What passport do you hold? Do you have to apply for a visa to visit HK?
