generally HKers don't tip. they will usually leave a few coins at a chinese restaurant.

taxi drivers usually round up to the nearest $.

other than that, it's up to you.
my haircut costs $123. i usually pay $150. but they are always fast and do a great job.
i rarely tip at restaurants.

it's a very American to tip for anything and everything.

Most restaurants add a 10% service charge. The waiters probably do not get any of that. If you like the service, then leave a tip in the money book or tray for the waiter. But if the waiter is not the one who brings your check, don't tip.

The rule for Hong Kongers, it is not customary to leave a tip on the table.

Of course if you have food delivered, such as pizza, you can tip the deliver.

For personal services, such as spa or hair salons, the choice to tip is up to you. You are not required to tip, but if you like the service and use the same person each time, why not tip?

So the general rule is, you don't need to tip in Hong Kong, but you can if you wish.

I guess the answer is still "no need" but do you tip for moving services, or furniture delivery? Just triple checking

As a local I am surprised to find people saying here that HKers don't tip.

The 10% charge goes to the owner only. And what you tip is shared by all the staff.

There are of course places where we don't tip like very small restaurants, Mcdonalds, KFCs.... where you only spend like 20-30 dollars a meal. But bigger and nicer restaurants we usually tip unless we were not satisfied with the service.

I must say though if a foreigner does not tip, they would not really mind too much. They kind of understand it. There are of course locals who don't tip.

At last I would like to say, up to you. Nothing serious.
