Don't worry... you're not alone. It's easy to miss opportunities to meet people here. It's pretty hard if you work with the locals. Watch for ladies night, or any of the clubs listed on here. OR....
Just go out for a drink on your own - go to a sports bar and watch a game... you'll make friends ;-)

Fsklee: Dharma Bum is right~ I work with locals so it's really hard for me to meet people. I hardly go get drinks on my own.. i feel so lonely when I do.. But I'll take your suggestion and go for ladies night, the next time it pops up~

lol.....sounds like my situation, i work with a brunch of local engineers who rarely go drink or party, gotta get out of this job quit and find a more "fun" job.....

and since you (janice) is not in jail, sure hit up ladies night, and its almost x'mas, i guess a bunch of cbc's, abc's, etc will be back for the party
