hey!

As me & wife will be heading from Spore to HK to work, anybody knows how I can transfer my filipino maid along as I need her to care of our baby.

Thanks...

Yes you can bring your helper. You can only apply once you receive your HK visa and have a place of residence. Here's the sample contract which you need to pick up from immigration and explains the procedure

The key question is when you receive YOUR Hong Kong visa. Once you have that you can apply immediately, but you cannot apply for your DH's visa until you have yours.

No - if you already have your own visa then I guess you could submit your application via the Chinese Embassy in Singapore.

All the forms & guidance notes can be found here: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/fdh.htm

Be aware that the conditions of employment for DHs in HK are somewhat different from Singapore: there is a mandatory minimum wage, you must give them one day per week off, and there is a tax to be paid by you to the Government.

Send a message via ICQ to freeier
and also HK does not allow you to deport the maid if she gets pregnant. so that incurs you tonnes of new potential liabilities that you have to be aware of.

to fatman: did you succeed at the end...?

Hi fatmann,

we will also move from SIN to HKG in October this year and intend to bring our maid. What did you have to do at the end to get here out of SIN and into HKG? Did you use an agency or even two? Would be great if you could share your experience with us!

Thanks and regards,

FUM
