London experts - Airport transit ?

Maybe not the ideal forum for such a question but I would like to know the average and worst case times for a trip from London City Airport to Heathrow by road, the trip will take place around 16:30 on a Friday...

... Thanks in advance for any help

Best case about 90 minutes on pretty clear roads (which is not going to happen at 4:30 on a Friday). Worst case - who knows? I wouldn't be surprised if it took 3 hours or more.

Public transport would be much more reliable for timing - DLR to Canning Town, Jubilee line to Baker Street, Bakerloo to Paddington, then Heathrow Express, shows as 1 hour 7 minutes on the TFL journey planner. Slightly longer, but a lot cheaper and less changes is DLR to Canning Town, Jubilee Line to Green Park, Piccadilly Line to Heathrow; that comes in at 1 hour 25 minutes.

Friday's are bad especially after 3.00pm.

Public transport as PDLM suggests or see if you change your flight such that you can arrive/change at LHR.

Thanks for the responses, I agree that the public transport option would be more reliable however with sizable luggage and a child I think I will go for plan A which is an earlier flight in LCY.

Yup as per PDLM really.

I live about 5 minutes away from City airport and it takes about 90 minutes or so to get to Heathrow by Car, thats on a good day with typical traffic. Friday afternoon traffic on the A4 by hammersmith towards chiswick roundabout and the start of the M4 is horrendous. If you have to drive then do it earlier i.e lunchtime.
